Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 67 - One for the Boys!

We are sponsored today by ONE STOP CARD CRAFTS who are offering a £10 voucher for their store as a prize.

Our theme is that hardest (for me) of all, 'One for the Boys'. My husband's birthday is coming up, so I decided to do something for him. Now, he loves all sorts of sports, but I find most sports themes for cards to be very impersonal, somehow. I think it's years of seeing generic football cards in the shops! The other thing he loves, is country scenery. He's a country boy, while I'm an unreformed townie who gets very nervous when there aren't any street lamps! So, I took another look at some of the Barbara Grey classroom sessions, got out my brayer, and decided to have another go.
I brayered and stamped on Clarity card, and the stamps are Clarity too - Split Tree and one of the small leaves. Brayering and the leaves were done with Distress Ink, while the tree in the image and the background is Memento.

I struggle with putting together scenes like this - I think it's my lack of basic artistic ability - I'm can't really picture what I'm trying to achieve in advance. Still, it's not bad, so that's what he'll be getting this year!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Inky Impressions where anything goes,
Crafty Catz where anything goes,
The Poodle's Parlour where anything goes,
Lollipop Crafts where anything goes,
Ooh La La where they want us to 'make it manly',

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 111

This week at One Stitch at a Time, our theme is 'Here Comes Summer!'

My card this week uses an image and papers from Reese's Scrap Pieces which are from a pack available from Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps.

I put three of the papers together (the pink, purple and green - to make a backing paper, then framed the image with some of the fourth paper (the blue), adding a caption before printing. The image has been coloured with Promarkers in shades to match the papers, and the flowers were punched from prints two of the papers. The only other addition is the paper doiley - I bought those ages ago, but rarely seem to use them!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Truly, Madly, Crafty where they want hand made flowers,
Oldie but Goodie where they want 'in the garden' (I've had those doilies for a year or so.)
Inky Impressions where anything goes,

Emergency Crafters where they want bold and bright,
The Poodle's Parlour where anything goes,

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 110

This week at One Stitch at a Time, we're having an 'anything goes' week! So, show us what you've got! Our sponsors are

and

My image this week is from Sylvie's Stamps, available from Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps, and it's called Swans.

I was tempted to do an 'all white' card with this gorgeous image, but decided to add some silver for contrast. The image has some shading with Promarkers and I've given the background a touch of colour using some Flexmarkers.

I cut the border from silver mirror card using a Martha Stewart border punch, and embossed some white card using some Sizzix folders. The image and mat were cut using some nesties.

I loved the clean lines of the result, so I decided to simply add a sentiment (from the 99p shop!) to finish.

Hope you can join us this week.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Whoopsie Daisy where anything goes,

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 66 - Fantasy!

This week at Crafty Cardmakers we want to see your fantastic creations!

Our two fab sponsors are, firstly

$15 Gift Certificate to the Crop Stop Store
and our second sponsor is
$10 Gift Voucher

It's probably not surprising that I decided to get out one of my Ching Chou Kuik Sweet Pea stamps. I used Promarkers to colour the image, and then decided to use one of my recent purchases. When I was at the Stitch and Craft show at Olympia a few weeks ago, I bought some Tonic border punches. These are the 'geared' punches and they are definitely easier to use than normal types. They're supposed to be able to cope with up to 300gsm card, although I haven't tried them with anything that heavy yet. I used both of a 'pair' I chose - one cuts only one edge, while the other cuts both to create a strip.

To finish, I've added some flowers from my embellishments box - and they've all been in that box for at least a couple of years!

On the subject of the Stitch and Craft show, I've got to say, I was disappointed. I've gone to that show on and off for years - first for stitching goodies, and later for the papercrafting things. This year, they decided to reorganise, and the papercrafting goods were moved from the first floor to the basement, with knitting taking over the first floor and stitching, as usual, on the ground floor. This meant that there was far less room for papercrafts, and I got the impression there were only about a quarter of the exhibitors that there would usually be. There were also far fewer visitors - whether that's because of the recession or because some papercrafters got wind of being edged out, I don't know. It's sad because this is the only really 'local' show around here. Alexandra Palace and Stevenage are the next two, but neither is easy by public transport - Olympia is a doddle from here. I may yet be forced into travelling to NEC!

Hope you can join us this week.

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 109

This week at One Stitch at a Time, our theme is Bright! A theme close to my heart!

Our sponsor this week is
My image this week is from Hope Jacare, called Treehouse with Bridge, and it's available at Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps. I love Hope Jacare images - they're so quirky but gorgeous too, and they look perfect in really bright colours!

I coloured the image with Promarkers. The paper is from a Kate Knight pad that came with a recent magazine, and I made the flowers using punched shapes coloured with the same Promarkers. To finish, I've used a whole length of that gorgeous floral lace I've been hoarding for ages. (I've never used as much on a single project before!) I think it's perfect for both the image, and the theme.

Hope you can join us this week.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

This week, Hazel and I are both using a gorgeous image from Ike's Art available at the Stitchy Bear Shop, called Peacock.

I coloured the image with Promarkers. The paper was put together in Photoshop Elements using an enlarged, repeated area of feathers from the image and colouring it with several gradients using colours to match the image.

The flowers were made using punched shapes with added (Promarker coloured) sticky gems, with some added gold punched swirls and leaves.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 65 - Easter!

Our challenge this week is set by Doreen. She has chosen Easter for her theme, so we'd like to see any project you make as long as it has an Easter theme.

We are sponsored for this challenge by

Who are offering a $10 Gift Certificate for their Store to the challenge winner

This week, I got to work with a really pretty image from Digi Doodle Shop - called Splendid Flowers.
I started with the image, and some beautiful Kate Knight paper that came recently with an issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine. I coloured the image with Promarkers in magenta and violet shades, and mounted it ont a mat cut using a Spellbinders die in my Wizard. Then, I did something I haven't done for years ... I looked out my peel offs. I've got loads, but they're normally buried at the back of the cupboard. But, I don't have any stamps with Easter greetings on them, and I didn't want to hand-write and the printer wasn't available, so ...

I threaded some pretty silver ribbon through the holes in the mat, and that's it! I did make a flower to add, but I preferred the card without it, so it'll go into my box for another day!

Hope you can join us this week.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

This week at One Stitch at a Time, our theme is 'New'! And we're sponsored by

This week, I got some gorgeous papers from Panda Bear Designs to work with, as well as a lovely image from Stitchy herself!
So, of course, I decided to go for the theme 'new wardrobe'!

The image is coloured with Promarkers to match the gorgeous papers. I printed the image a little smaller than I usually would to show off the background! And then, to finish, I made some flowers using a couple of punches, colouring the card with the same Promarkers as I used in the image.

Hope you can join us this week!
